Threadgill’s is a historical icon that has been open since 1933, showcasing artists from Janis Joplin to Jerry Lee Lewis. Open 365 days a year, it features live music events 3-4 times each week, and great Southern food daily. Appetizers like fried green tomatoes and fried pickle spears tide you over until the main event – Southern favorites like burgers, steaks, sandwiches, seafood, and more. Try the specialty Prickly Pear Margarita for a sweet kick to top off your experience. Threadgill’s now offers two locations for customer convenience; North and South Austin locations.

Spider House Café:
The Spider House Café is a fun, casual location that offers a variety of entertainment, from live music to stand-up comedy up to six nights a week. This small café offers many sharable dips, from hummus to guacamole, plus quiche, salads, and gourmet hot & cold sandwiches with vegetarian options.  You’ll find more than 20 beers on tap, additional bottled beers, and 10 specialty cocktails to enjoy during the show.

Zed’s restaurant bar is the newest location on this list. Open Tuesday through Sunday, Zed’s offers lunch, dinner, a separate bar menu, and Happy Hour each day. Brunch on Sundays. Plate options on each menu are gourmet all the way. Choose from grilled artichokes and crab cakes for appetizers; burgers, steaks, and seafood for the entrée, and crème brulee or “miles of chocolate” for dessert. Extensive wine, beer, and cocktail menus are also available. The East Side Show Room is an adventurous restaurant bar on historical 6th Street, worth visiting for the hipster ambience. Open every day from 5pm-2am, the showroom features a variety of artistic shows 3-4 times a week. The art extends right into the kitchen, where culinary classics like burrata, mussels, and short ribs are created using sustainable, fresh, local ingredients. Beer, wine, and theatrical cocktails, like the Absinthe drip & the Imperialist, are also available with specials during Happy Hour everyday from 5-7pm.

Iguana Grill on the Lake:
The Iguana Grill is a Mexican food restaurant that features live music and the best sunset views over Lake Travis. Due to its casual, large open-air deck dining room, waiting lists get long during good weather. The Iguana doesn’t offer music events during the cold winter months.
